Creating a smartpage

There are two ways of creating a smartpage:

Create, insert content and structure manually

What comes with manual creation:

• Ability to take advantage of all the features offered and smartpage integration
• Structuring and design exactly to your requirements
• A title that clearly conveys the content of the page

Automatic smartpage creation using Drag & Drop

What comes with automatic creation:

• Quick and automatic creation based on the uploaded file(s)
• Automatically created name from the name of the first uploaded file
• No more manual intervention required to add additional features and integrations

How to create a smartpage manually?

Users with edit permissions can create the structure, including file smartpages. To create a smartpage manually, you must do the following:

1. On the home page, or in a folder where you can edit, create a new smartpage using the same button.
2. Specify a title or what the page will be called.
3. Create the structure, upload the files and edit the page to your requirements.
4. Publish. (If you don't want to publish the smartpage yet, use the Preview Changes button in the right column of the page. You will be able to come back to the page later and publish it when it is complete and ready)

When you're done, publishing takes you from edit mode to a version of the page that everyone authorized to view it will see. You can always return to editing the page by going back to the smartpage and clicking the Edit button.

💡 Tip: We recommend to use primarily manual creation of the file page when you want to implement many more features and create a clear and well designed not only smartpage, but also the whole structure of the repository. We recommend using the Drag & Drop feature when you know you will return to edit the page, or when you need to speed up the process of uploading a large number of files.

How to create a smartpage automatically using Drag & Drop?

If you are creating a smartpage by dragging (or clicking to upload) only one file, only that file is automatically uploaded to the smartpage and the entire page is named after it. The name can be changed and overwritten. If you drag multiple files at once, they are all uploaded to one page and the page is named after the first uploaded file.

When the page is created by uploading the file(s), the File element is automatically created there.

At the moment of upload, you have the option to edit the page and then publish or save it for later publishing using Preview changes.
